Patina Field

Left in the weather long enough, a thing stops resisting and begins to become something else. Copper tones bloom into greens that were never there before, and the change reads not as decay but as a second identity, arrived at slowly and without complaint.

The dark growth threading through belongs to whatever moved in afterwards. No boundary survives between what was made and what took hold; the mineral and the living now occupy the same ground.

What remains is a place that has been let alone. Not neglected. Released. Time was given permission here, and did what it always does, making something stranger and more alive than the original.

Set against a plain wall it cools and deepens everything near it, lending its surroundings a longer memory than they have any right to.
