Looped Current

The black comes back. It loops across the cobalt. The line doubles back on itself, gathering weight each time it passes its own path. Cobalt is hard and stays exactly where it is. The weight arrives over it anyway, and then arrives again.

Some nights a thought behaves like that. It returns with more on it than it carried before, gathers weight in the doubling, and returns once more with that weight still on it. Nobody decides to begin. It simply comes back, and each arrival sits heavier than the one before.

Late in a room, everything else settles under that blue. The weight stays exactly as heavy as it came.
