Residual Measure
£266.79
There comes a point when what is left of a thing stops recalling it and begins to stand on its own.
The light is long gone from here. What remains of it lies scattered and faint across the surface: a few fine marks and the pale ghosts of imprints, some silver, some warmed to copper. They no longer point back to any source; the source is long past recovering. They have become simply themselves, a residue settled into an order of its own making.
There is a strange completeness in that. The measure has outlasted the thing it measured, and asks nothing more of it.
The residue holds now without the light that made it, quiet and entire. The measure has become the thing itself.
