Fracture Line II
£146.14
The structure that binds a thing into one is also what divides it into parts.
A single dark line branches and forks across the surface until nothing is left unjoined, one continuous body. Yet everywhere it reaches, it closes the pale behind it into a separate field, sealed and entire. The more of the whole it gathers into itself, the more it parcels the ground into territories that no longer meet.
This is the paradox of anything that binds: a lineage, a network, a frame. To hold every part in relation is to draw a border around each one. The dark cannot connect without enclosing, and the joining and the dividing are one gesture.
It leaves a field of bright, separate chambers, each one sealed by the very line that binds them all.
