To break from an order is not to fall into chaos. More often it is to grow an order of one's own.
At the centre a figure turns inward on itself, rigid and complete, keeping the discipline it was given. Around it moves something that answers to no such rule, and yet is not loose: every current of it is many fine strands combed into one, holding a discipline the geometry never taught it. What surrounds the figure is not the absence of order but another order entirely, richer and more alive than the one it flows around.
Two disciplines share the surface, and neither can be spoken in the other's terms.
Stillness and motion arrive together here, quiet at the centre and alive at every edge, the whole holding together on terms entirely its own.
